Was there ever a time when you have like a million things to say, but didn't know where to start or how to go about saying everyting and end up not saying anything at all?
...well, today isn't like that...
I've been recently considering how, many times in a Christian's life we tend to lose sight of or forget why we do what we do. Why we are the way we are. Or why we live the way we live. The things that we are used to doing become a pattern in our lives and once cruise control flips on, though our spiritual live may be "good" or "not so bad", life seemingly begins to lose it's luster and we begin to wonder what ever happened to that joy of salvation we are supposed to find in this "new life" in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17).
In realizing the cyclic nature of this condition, I have constantly come back to the passage found in Philippians 1:21 which ends, "for to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain." I have found this passage to be so revealing in the very fact that our lives are never supposed to fall into "cruise control." Instead, we live a life that is constantly being transformed by the pursuit of infusing Christ into and allowing Him to have complete and upmost control in every aspect of our lives to the point that when people see us or know us, they will see and know Christ. Our lives will be a perfect reflection of Christ.
Now of course, this ultimate goal may not be attainable during our lives on this earth, but it is towards this heavenly aspiration that causes our lives to be filled with vigor and desire in pursuit of this goal. Every moment, every breath, our goal is to reflect Christ. Will we be willing to flip off the comfortable "cruise control" of our lives and put our foot back on the spiritual gas pedal to advance on towards God?
May our lives be as Paul expresses to the church of Philippi, a life of Christ and death of the things that may hinder us in our pursuit, that we may gain Him more.
