Well, I just about made it through a year without posting, but hey what the heck maybe one post a year would be sufficient to sum up the occurences of my eventless life :P.
Anyhow, for those who don't know yet, I'm currently studying in St. George's University on an island called Grenada down in the Caribbeans for school. I finished my masters in public health just last summer and am currently in my first year of medical school.
As for current events, there's not much to say other than the fact that we finally got to move into our new apartment after a two week delay due to the incompletion of the actual building we were supposed to live in. Before we left for winter break, the landlord had promised us that the apartment would be fully completed by the end of December, which gives plenty of time for the paint to dry and time for us to come early before the term starts to move in. So after arriving in Grenada, I have the taxi dude from the airport drop me off at our "new" place only to see a hollow barebones concrete structure with no doors, windows, piping, or electrical wiring....basically nothing other than a concrete slab!! Anyways, to make a long story short, our landlord appologizes for the delay and agrees to put us up in her "Grenadian mansion" with like 10 rooms and 4 living rooms until the new apartment is completed. Well, after two weeks, our place is finally done and I'll have to say that the place is pretty nice with tile floors, high-rise ceilings and fully furnished with handmade furniture (well after looking at some of the things that were made, I wouldn't mind going with good 'ol IKEA :0).
However the whole moving into a new place two weeks into the term really kinda threw things off for me in terms of time needed for me to acclimate to new things yet continuing to go on with my schedule. I spent the greater portion of the last few days, wiping down the place which was covered in saw dust in some places because most of the "in-house" carpentry and unpacking my stuff in addition to going to class and studying.
We're hopefully going to get internet (yes they have DSL in the Caribbeans...not to mention electricity and hot water just in case you were wondering ) next week and split it between a bunch of people who have moved in around the complex of houses/apartments owned by the same landlord.
During my study breaks I have been playing this de-stressing/stressful game on the internet called "smack the pingu," compliments from a friend who had the url. Tell me what kinda scores you are getting, cuz I don't know if it's possible to get much higher than a 600. Anyways, my current high scores are: 558.2, 574.4, 584.3, 593.5. I'll update you when I break 600 :D.
Okay, well I hope this blog gets published...won't be supprised if it doesn't. Signing out...for the year :P
